To provide our officials with the support and training in order to achieve the highest level of officiating proficiency under rules prescribed by the NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee, and to ensure that every school for which we assign has full confidence that its events will be handled with the utmost professionalism by our members.
About the MSWOA
The Mid States Wrestling Officials Association (MSWOA) is the largest collegiate wrestling assigning association in the nation, made up of approximately 150 NCAA-registered officials from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Massachusetts, Arizona, Kentucky, Colorado, California, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, and Florida. It assigns officials for Division I, Division II, and Division III NCAA schools, NAIA schools, as well as NCWA events. It also assigns for the Ohio Athletic Conference.
MSWOA enjoys the distinction of assigning for such major tournaments as the 2019 Multi-Divisional National Duals (featuring the best Division II, Division III, NAIA, NJCAA, and Women’s programs from across the country), University of Indianapolis Midwest Classic, South Beach Duals, Wheaton College Tournament, Michigan State Open, University of Michigan Open, and Ohio Northern Open. The Association was also instrumental in the formation of the NCAA’s Grant Awards Program, where up to $2,000 is awarded annually to collegiate wrestling associations applying for funds for the purposes of training and recruitment.
MSWOA holds its annual rules clinic each October, where featured speakers, such as the National Coordinator of Officials, offer insights on new rules for the coming season, proper mechanics, and training techniques. Our clinics are open to all officials, regardless of their affiliation with another association.
Member dues are used to help support our officials’ travel and overnight accommodations as may be required throughout the season. Membership in MSWOA is open to any wrestling official, whether already NCAA-registered, or simply interested in becoming a college official.
